Common Questions About Our Tutoring

Your first hour of tutoring is completely free — no contracts, no commitment. We match you with a tutor, you meet for a full session, and you only continue if you're happy. It's how we let the quality of our tutors speak for itself.

Tutoring starts at only $60/hour! Your exact rate depends on a few things: whether you meet online or in-person, whether it's an academic subject or SAT/ACT test prep, and whether you pay as you go or buy a package — bulk hours come at a discount. After your free first hour we'll put together a plan that fits your goals and budget. Call us at (801) 508-4080 to book your first session free.

Your first session is free! After that, we keep a credit card on file and charge it as each session is completed — no large upfront payment and no long-term contract unless you choose to purchase a package at a discounted rate. And for SAT or ACT prep, you can spread the cost over 12 months with our financing option through Affirm.

We offer in-person tutoring in the San Diego, Berkeley and the East Bay, Salt Lake City, and Denver metro areas, plus online tutoring to students anywhere in the U.S.

For in-person tutoring, you choose what's most convenient — your home, a local library, or a coffee shop — at the same price either way. Online sessions are more cost-effective and give you access to our full national network of tutors. Once you're matched, you and your tutor settle on a regular spot that works for you both.

We cover math from middle school through advanced college courses, the sciences (physics, chemistry, and biology), statistics, computer science, and SAT, ACT, and PSAT prep. Many of our tutors also help with the GRE, GMAT, and MCAT. Just ask about your specific subject or test — chances are we have a tutor for it.

Yes! It's one of our most popular options. Our online tutoring uses an interactive video classroom that's every bit as personalized as meeting in person, and it's typically more cost-effective. It also opens up our entire national network of tutors instead of limiting you to who's nearby, so you get the best possible match for your subject and goals — from anywhere in the U.S.

We hire only the top 5% of tutor applicants and train them to become High Performance Certified — vetted for subject mastery, teaching ability, and personality. And unlike companies that just hand you a name from a directory, our tutors work as a team: they share notes and coordinate behind the scenes, so switching tutors or getting help across multiple subjects stays seamless. You're not getting a random tutor — you're getting one of the best, backed by a whole team.

Tell us the subject, your goals, your schedule, and whether you'd prefer in-person or online sessions, and we'll match you with the tutor who fits best. If it's not the right fit, we'll find you another at no extra cost.

Just let us know and we'll match you with a different tutor at no extra cost — no awkward conversation needed. Because our tutors work as a team and share notes, a new tutor can pick up right where the last one left off. We care about the right fit, not just any fit.

Most students who complete our SAT program improve 150–300 points, and our ACT students typically gain 3–7 points — but those are typical ranges, not a ceiling. For example, we've had students raise their ACT by 10 points or more. Your results depend on your starting point and the effort you put in, and our personalized approach is built to maximize every point.

Of course we understand that life happens. We only ask for 6 hours' notice to reschedule or cancel a session, which is far more generous than the 24-hour policy most tutoring companies require. Just contact us and we'll find a new time that works. You can also log in to your account and reschedule or cancel a session there. You have complete control over your schedule.

It depends on your goals, but most families meet once or twice a week, and sessions run an hour by default — longer if you'd like. For SAT or ACT prep, students usually start at least 8 to 12 weeks before their test date. Your tutor will recommend a plan after the first session, and you can adjust the pace as needed.

Yes — consistency helps, so you'll work with the same tutor from session to session whenever possible. You're also welcome to request a particular tutor, or a tutor of a specific gender; just let us know and we'll do our best to accommodate.

Absolutely. Siblings or a small group of friends can share a session — a popular, cost-effective option. Just tell us who's joining and what they're working on, and we'll match a tutor who can support the whole group. The hourly rate doesn't change for group sessions. Everyone simply splits the cost of the session.
