Our Founder's Message

Dear Students and Parents,

My greatest joy in life is witnessing that “light bulb” moment—when a challenging concept finally clicks and a student realizes, “I can do this.” Learning should be exciting and empowering, no matter your age or level. Whether you’re a high school student preparing for the ACT or a college student navigating calculus or physics, that spark of understanding can transform the entire learning experience.

Since graduating from Harvey Mudd College in 2007, I’ve spent over 15,000 hours tutoring students in math, science, and test preparation, as well as teaching university-level courses in those same subjects. These years have shown me one undeniable truth: a great tutor can completely change the way a student sees themselves.

When school becomes overwhelming, even bright, capable students start to lose confidence. That’s when the right tutor can make all the difference. A skilled educator doesn’t just explain the material—they restore belief, inspire curiosity, and help students rediscover what they’re capable of achieving. That transformation is what inspired me to create High Performance Tutoring.

Back in 2011, I gathered a team of educators, learning specialists, and community leaders with a shared goal: to design a tutoring model built on quality, compassion, and measurable results. It all started right here in Salt Lake City, where we built lasting relationships with families, schools, and students who wanted something better than generic tutoring. From those roots, High Performance Tutoring grew across the country—yet our Utah origins continue to shape who we are today.

The greater Salt Lake area—from Davis County to Utah County—embodies the values that define our mission: academic excellence, family, hard work, and community. Our tutors include graduates from the University of Utah, BYU, Utah State, and other top institutions—people who love teaching and are passionate about making difficult concepts easy to understand. Whether your student needs help with math, science, or ACT prep, we’re here to help them raise their grades, boost their scores, and rebuild their confidence.
